EDUCATE THE ORPHANS

THANK YOU

At the start of this new year ETO would like to say thank you to all of our ETO family.

To our friends
Thank you for praying for our children, our teachers, our Pastors, our leaders and for all the other aspects of our work.

We really do appreciate all your prayers and know that God hears every one of them.  Please continue to pray for us and our children in this new year

To all our donors
Thank you for your continued faithfulness during the past year, for all your donations and financial support without this support we just couldn't do this work.

In 2023 your support enabled us to continue to feed, clothe and educate the needy and orphan children in our 7 schools.  Your support also helped

  • provide a solar panel pump for the poor children at Kanthakame which is now helping them to pump water from the river to grow much needed food.
  • buy clothes for the children that had been rescued from traffickers (and for the Mama who helps to look after them).
At the start of this year, again we affirm our promise to you that 100% of all your donations will be used to improve the position of the children sponsored, i.e. through clothing, feeding and educating.

Volunteers
Thank you to all the volunteers who had given up some free time to support us during 2023.

Thank you to anyone who baked buns/cakes, helped serve tea/coffee or helped setup or tidy up at our coffee morning/book sale.

Thank you to the person who used her baking skills to make jam to sell, raising money for our work.

We pray for a blessed and prosperous new year for all of you this year.

ETO UPDATE
EL NINO RAINS CAUSE DEVASTATION IN KENYA
You may have heard on the news over the last couple of months about a climate pattern called El Niño which was causing abnormal climate conditions in a number of African countries.

In the week before Christmas our ETO Kenyan director contacted us to tell how the El Niño rains had caused devastation in Kenya, including in the area where we work (near to the Tana River). The rains came so quickly and with such force that much of the land was flooded. People were displaced from their homes and the crops they had planted to eat were washed away. Sadly over 130 people in Kenya lost their lives. (I've attached a UNICEF report on the El Nino Floods if you would like to read more about it.)

UNICEF Report on EL NINO FLOODS
We thank God that there was no loss of life amongst our children or the wider ETO family however El Niño did still cause devastation.  The crops on our own farms were also washed away and the damage caused to buildings and homes has meant that a large number of our children are currently having to live in the schools.  As a result ETO purchased food relief for the children just before Christmas.  We are also currently working hard to replant the crops on the farms.

The video below shows the extent of the devastation and is from a town called 'Garissa' which was completely under water after the Tana River broke its banks.
These photos are from the flooded roads in Tharaka near to our school.  As you can see armed patrols were stationed to help people across.
Please pray for the Kenyan people as they try to recover from EL Nino by rebuilding their homes and replanting their crops.
ETO STUDENTS BLESSING THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY
In our November newsletter we shared with you some of the photos of ETO students helping those in need from within their own community,

Seeing the students supporting and helping their own community reach encourgages us so we though we would share some more photos of our children doing just that.
