THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE
JANUARY UPDATE 2026
A NEW YEAR & A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

At the beginning of this new year, ETO would like to pause and give a heartfelt thanks to you—our valued sponsors and supporters. Through your generosity, and by God’s grace and faithful provision, every need of our work throughout 2025 was met. We are continually reminded that God moves powerfully through the kindness and obedience of His people.

One touching example of this is the story of six children we visited whose parents had abandoned them. They were being lovingly cared for by a blind man and his wife, who themselves had no means of providing for the children’s basic needs. In January 2025, ETO committed to educating these children, stepping out in faith and trusting God, even though we did not know where the funding for their schooling, food, or clothing would come from.

Now, one year on, we rejoice in sharing that all six children have successfully completed their first year of school. This is a true testimony to God’s provision and to your faithful support. What once seemed impossible was made possible through prayer, trust, and generosity.

This is a recent photo of a few of the children with the blind man and his wife, receiving food supplies from ETO.

May God continue to bless and protect these precious children, and all the other children in our care. Thank you for standing with us as we serve and trust Him together.

SHARING GOD'S LOVE THIS CHRISTMAS

As part of our Christmas outreach, ETO made visits to the aged, widows, and others living in great need, delivering much needed food aid.

This act of giving during the Christmas season proved to be one of the most timely and meaningful activities we undertook, as it directly met the real and urgent needs of those who were truly struggling.

Through these visits, we were reminded that Christmas is not only a season of celebration, but also a time to reach out with compassion to those who are often forgotten.

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”
Psalm 82:3

Sadly, we also encountered some deeply heartbreaking situations. One such case was that of a mother who had lost both of her sons to hunger-related illnesses—one to kwashiorkor and the other to marasmus. She now lives alone, and at the time of our visit, had gone three days without food. Her story is a sobering reminder of the harsh realities faced by many.

Moments like these strengthen our resolve to continue this work, trusting God to provide as we respond to the needs before us. We are deeply grateful to you, our supporters, whose generosity makes it possible to reach those who have nowhere else to turn.

May God have mercy on the vulnerable, comfort the broken-hearted, and continue to guide us as we seek to serve those most in need.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

We are preparing for the start of a new school year in Kenya, with the first school term beginning on 5th January.

Seven of our sponsored children completed their studies at the end of last year, and we have been made aware of eight orphaned children at Kaguma who need support to access education. We are prayerfully looking into this, trusting God to provide as He has in the past.

As the new term begins, there is also an immediate need to purchase maize and beans to ensure the children are fed. While our two ETO farms help reduce food costs, recent drought and water restrictions in Kenya have meant that some crops have failed. Because of this, we will need to buy more food than usual in the coming weeks.

During the Christmas period, some children even returned to school outside of term time so they could be fed, highlighting the ongoing need for support.

We are grateful for your continued prayers and generosity as we seek to educate and care for the children entrusted to us, trusting God to meet every need.

A LIFE TRANSFORMED & DEDICATED TO GOD'S CHILDREN

As we celebrate the many ways God has provided for our children and communities, we are reminded that His work is carried forward through people with hearts fully surrendered to Him.

One such life is that of Christopher Gicugu Kauna, who has been instrumental in the work of ETO from its creation to the present day. His story is one of remarkable transformation and steadfast dedication.

Once an elephant poacher in Tharaka, Kenya, Christopher’s life was radically changed one day while returning from a hunt. He overheard a preacher sharing the Gospel, and that moment transformed him completely. He turned away from his old life, embraced Christ, and devoted himself to serving God and His children.

Today, Christopher is a pastor with a deep love for the Bible and a heart for all of God’s children. He later met Bobby Moffett, and together they founded the ministry now known as Educate the Orphans. For 38 years, Christopher has poured his passion, energy, and faith into the ministry, inspiring countless lives along the way.
