SOLAR WATER PUMP AT KAMATHAKAME SCHOOL

We are pleased to be able to report that the solar water pump project at Kamathakame school is now finished.

This pump is now providing the children with a vital supply of water, and helping the school to grow their own crops providing food for the children to eat.
We thank God for HIS provision for these children.  You can see the pump working in the short video below.

CUTWORM ATTACKING CROPS IN KENYA
The Kenyan government has been warning people about an infestation of cutworm that has been destroying young plants by eating the stems at or near ground level.  The government was advising that crops needed to be pulled up and replanted.

Livingstone reports,

'These are cut worms that attack crops roots and finally causing the crops to dry.  They had attacked crops across the eastern region.  This lead to an out cry all-over  the region due to fear of continuous hunger.  Farmers were advised to plough again to plant again.  By god's grace it was not so much in our farm.

I advised some farmers to apply agricultural lime to the farms because once the cut worms feed on lime, they are able to digest lime therefore they die.  I was able to buy 1000kgs of agriculture lime and we have been able to apply it on our ETO farms, both Ruungu (Mugunna-Anna) and Kamaindi and it is very well working and our crops are doing very well and am told some farmers came to our farm Kamaindi to see how it is working.  Majority have shifted to lime application to their farms and it working as to ourselves.

We thank God for his directives.
shalom.'

MUGUNA ANNA CHILDREN HELP PREPARE THE FARM FOR PLANTING
The struggle for food security is such a vital part of everyday life in Kenya. So much so that in our school one of the subjects the children are taught is agriculture, teaching them the skills and techniques needed to successfully grow crops.

On a recent visit to the shamba (farm) the children of Muguna Anna school got involved in helping to prepare the land for planting.  On this farm we plan to plant a number of drought resistant crops with short maturity periods to maximise the yield and reduce the risk of poor harvest due to lack of rainfall.
